Well, the move went as moves go. We had a lot of help from some very good friends. (Isn't it some kind of saying that moving lets you know who your friends are?) We even had 2 days of babysitting.
And now we are slowly getting acclimated, unpacking, cleaning and readying the old apartment, etc. It's quite an adjustment to a house. This is a ranch plus finished basement, and there are no fewer than 4 ways to get outside. The children are busy exploring them all, constantly. It can be quite unnerving. They also tend to leave the door open behind them, a habit I hope to quickly help them break, since the 90 plus degree weather and our smaller-than-it-needs-to-be central air conditioning unit are already a less than ideal combination. Also, it seems I now have a sixth child, but at least she is older - the eight-year-old neighbor girl who plays in our front yard (when the kids are inside) and wanders in and out with the children, eating lunch here and so on. Wonder how long before I can start assigning her chores?
The heat has made it too difficult for the kids to remain outside long enough for my liking, so we piled into the minivan and headed to Target this morning to get an inflatable pool. Not only have they stayed outside for over an hour straight, but they haven't even asked for lunch yet. Wow. I could get used to this.
