Well, the move went as moves go. We had a lot of help from some very good friends. (Isn't it some kind of saying that moving lets you know who your friends are?) We even had 2 days of babysitting.
And now we are slowly getting acclimated, unpacking, cleaning and readying the old apartment, etc. It's quite an adjustment to a house. This is a ranch plus finished basement, and there are no fewer than 4 ways to get outside. The children are busy exploring them all, constantly. It can be quite unnerving. They also tend to leave the door open behind them, a habit I hope to quickly help them break, since the 90 plus degree weather and our smaller-than-it-needs-to-be central air conditioning unit are already a less than ideal combination. Also, it seems I now have a sixth child, but at least she is older - the eight-year-old neighbor girl who plays in our front yard (when the kids are inside) and wanders in and out with the children, eating lunch here and so on. Wonder how long before I can start assigning her chores?
The heat has made it too difficult for the kids to remain outside long enough for my liking, so we piled into the minivan and headed to Target this morning to get an inflatable pool. Not only have they stayed outside for over an hour straight, but they haven't even asked for lunch yet. Wow. I could get used to this.

It's funny how two of your children are completely naked! I look forward to getting something like that when we move in to our house!
I, too, like the skinny dipping. We've even allowed the boys to do that (on our Uhaul day).
I hope it goes well with your walk-thru at the apartment. We had that too. However, it was the realtor who did it and then reported back to the homeowner that she had 5 hours worth of cleaning to do, which was NOT true. So, now it is her word against mine and a portion of our deposit at stake. I should have takne pics but I never thought she'd make these claims. Fortunately, I've developed a good relationship with the owner and she trusts me (and she is a believer). But, it is up to me to go fight with the realtor now, which happens tomorrow.
was her hand positioned there on purpose?! LOL -- they look like they are thoroughly enjoying themselves in their new home :)
How fun! Love the pool. I hope that little girl is okay. Sounds like maybe she's a lonely only child? Have you met her mom yet?
@tridentinefan - I met her grandpa. I believe her mom may be the one who was blasting rap music from the car in the driveway the other night about 10:00 PM and honking for her boyfriend to come out. She seems like a sweet girl though.
That is so funny to have a neighbor kid going in and out of the house with your kids as if she was one of your own. I bet you could get away with her helping your kids doing some chores. You should test it and see if it works.
